LGBT workplace inclusion conference in Luxembourg
January 14, 2016
Workplace Pride was honored to play an important role in the first in-house corporate conference held in Luxembourg dealing with LGBT workplace inclusion. The event, entitled “Addressing LGBT in the Workplace” took place on Tuesday, 12 January, was sponsored by Chartre Diversity Letzebuerg (Diversity Charter Luxembourg), hosted at the offices of BGL BNP Paribas and organized by IMS Luxembourg.
As a country, Luxembourg is quite advanced when it comes to LGBT inclusion in society, however, speaking about or visibly including the topic in the workplace is still something relatively new. This event addressed that very topic by taking a good hard look at what still needs to be done.
Opening the event was Etienne Schneider, Deputy Prime Minister of Luxembourg, who is openly gay and a proponent of more visibility for LGBT people in the workplace. Interestingly, the Prime Minister of Luxembourg, Mr. Xavier Bettel, is also gay, and is currently the only LGBT world leader.
Workplace Pride was represented by Executive Director, David Pollard, who delivered the keynote address entitled: “The Corporate World and LGBT, a World of Silence?”
